The Situation
Xander had been building his sports photography business for a while before we connected, but he was doing it without a website. He was good enough at what he did that larger clients were starting to take notice, and having no site was becoming a real obstacle since some of the bigger jobs he wanted to land required one. He also wanted a place that could show off his photos properly and give people a way to reach out beyond just Instagram.
What We Built
The photography had to be the centerpiece, so the first decision we made together was a dark background, which was the right call for making his shots pop. Each photo in the gallery was set up with a lightbox that shows the player's name and game on click, which was something Xander specifically wanted and it adds a level of detail that feels intentional rather than generic. Links to his full Zenfolio albums were built in so anyone who wanted to see complete game galleries could get there easily. Contact options were kept simple and prominent: form, email, and a direct path to Instagram for people who preferred to DM. After launch, as his business kept growing, we added a section highlighting a YouTube video he had created. The site has been a genuine asset in helping him land the kind of work he was aiming for.
